The Human Right Has Been Destroyed in Taiwan

Yesterday, the highest-ranking China's envoy for Taiwan, Chen Yun-Lin, arrived in Taiwan to conclude accords on direct air links, shipping routes and other economic issues, spurring strong protests from Taiwanese opposed to closer ties with China. Thousands of polices stationed on every checkpoints from Taoyuan International Airport to the Grand Hotel in Taipei. A unforgettable date had begun.

Due to Chen's visit, every vehicle going to Taoyuan International Airport was stopped by polices and asked the reasons of going to the air port. In addition, in the air port, any single person who brought the flag of Republic of China or the banner of anti-China was violently arrested. On the way to Grand Hotel, some Tibetans holding Snow Lion Flag and following the chartered cars for Chen were stopped by polices without any proper reasons.

Half hour before Chen's arrival in Grand Hotel, a demonstration in Taipei which against Chen was started. The women wore clothes painted Anti-China were later arrested. During arresting action, the polices broke one woman's finger when they tried to take away a Tibetan flag. After this absurd and illegal arrest, a few minutes before Chen arrived the hotel, four DPP Taichung City councilors led another demonstration and unfurled two banners reading “Taiwan is Taiwan” and “Get out, Bandit Chen Yun-Lin” from sixth floor of the hotel. A few minutes later, polices tore down the banners and four councilors were later led by hotel staffs to the basement as Chen arrived at the lobby. In the afternoon, a human rights activist was arrested and injured by the polices and polices detained her for almost two hours without any medical attention. The woman was just walking near the Grand Hotel and carrying a Tibetan flag. Meanwhile, other young women holding Republic of China, U.N. and Tibetan flags were violently pushed by polices as well.

I believe that human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want and they have been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people. Without freedom, human beings lose their own value of life in this world. But, as you can read from news and this blog, the human right has been destroyed in Taiwan due to Ma Ying-Jeou's pro-China decision. He has squandered his political credibility by recklessly, hastily and secretly converting the country of Taiwan into a district of China; An evil country cruelly destroying human right and killing Tibetans. This pro-China political issue is not acceptable by most Taiwanese. Therefore, as a Taiwan citizen, I would like to strongly emphasize that Taiwan is an independent country, NOT a part of China!
